The A's outhit the Redbirds 7-3, but St. Louis came out on top where it counts on the scoreboard with a 1-0 win. Lance Lynn was phenomenal fanning 9 and scattering 7 hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. Jeff Samardzija was the hard luck loser giving up just 1 run on 3 hits over 8. He must have thought he was still with the Cubs with the type of run support that he got from his mates. A 7th inning Jhonny Peralta solo shot was the difference maker in this contest as the Cards drew first blood.
